Young people described a need for more stable and affordable housing in their communities.

Participants suggested that:
• The ripple effects of wildfires have heightened the need for housing.
• People who live in urban areas don’t always understand housing issues in rural areas.
• Housing shortages impact the health and well-being of the whole community.

“Homelessness here is not necessarily like in other big places like Portland. It’s gotten really bad. But here, a lot of it – so many people’s houses burned down, and people have been displaced.”

“We ended up having to come back out here and live with her parents. We just recently got our own place, so it's kind of a blessing. Luckily, we have a roof over our head, but for a while, we were technically homeless.”

“The people that will serve the tourists in the restaurants and shops, don't have a place to live here.”

“One full-time job doesn't pay for a house. You have to have at least two incomes to be even comfortable in a home.”
